If you're on the hunt for a delightful brunch spot in Raleigh, NC, look no further than The Flying Biscuit Café. Nestled in a vibrant area filled with shops and other eateries, this charming restaurant serves up Southern comfort food with a twist—and it’s definitely worth a visit.

When you sit down, everyone receives a biscuit paired with the most delicious apple butter. Unfortunately, I’m allergic to apples, so I couldn’t try it myself, but I highly recommend you give it a taste! The biscuits were divine—fluffy without being too mushy, which is exactly what you'd expect from a place called The Flying Biscuit! Once I settled in, I couldn't resist trying the Watermelon Sugar High drink. Our server shared a funny joke about this popular cocktail, inspired by Harry Styles: “Why does Harry Styles always order a Watermelon Sugar High? Because it’s the only thing that can keep up with his ‘sweet’ style!” I joked with our waiter that he shouldn't quit his day job. This refreshing cocktail, crafted with homemade watermelon juice, fresh mint, blanco tequila, and a splash of soda, was a steal at just $8.50. It tasted like pure juice—light, vibrant, and perfect for a warm day. If you enjoy fruity drinks that aren’t too heavy on the alcohol, this one is a must-try!

For my meal, I selected the FL Sunshine Waffle Breakfast. This hearty dish features two eggs cooked to your preference, your choice of meat I a side and a a homemade golden waffle, and a fluffy flying biscuit. The syrup and butter on the side were the ideal finishing touches to my breakfast spread. The eggs were fresh and clearly made to order however the sausage I had was extremely dry you're better off skipping this one. Now let's talk about my side, the grits. As someone who’s originally from the South, I was hesitant to order them. However I was pleasantly surprised, the grits were creamy and flavorful. I can’t wait to come back and try the grits bowl next time—it’s a Southern classic I’m eager to explore further. Lastly the waffle was absolute perfection, light fluffy while skill having the classic buttermilk taste.

One of the standout aspects of The Flying Biscuit is the friendly service. The staff was warm and welcoming. Plus, the food arrived promptly, which is always a bonus when you're hungry. Finding a place to park was a breeze, thanks to the ample parking available in the area. After your meal, you can easily stroll around and explore the nearby shops or grab a coffee at a local café.

All in all, The Flying Biscuit Café in Raleigh offers a delightful combination of tasty food, refreshing drinks, and friendly service—all at affordable prices. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this spot is perfect for a leisurely brunch. Don’t forget to try the Watermelon Sugar High and the FL Sunshine Waffle—you won’t regret it!
